The District of Columbia has the highest rate of food insecurity among older adults in the nation. According to a recent report from Feeding America, 14.3% of seniors in the District lack consistent access to the food they need to lead healthy, active lives. We can turn the tides on food insecurity in our community. The DC City Council's No Senior Hungry bill would establish a task force to develop a city-wide response to senior food insecurity; make it easier for older adults to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); and allow Medicaid to cover home-delivered meals and medical nutrition therapy. We need your help to move this critical bill forward. Take action below to urge Councilmember Anita Bonds to set a public hearing on the No Senior Hungry bill!
