School food service programs are shouldering the burden of rapidly increasing numbers of families in need without protective equipment, sufficient funds, or assistance in this unprecedented emergency response; they need your help. As your constituent, I urge you to ensure school food service programs remain fiscally solvent during and after the pandemic and to provide greater support by including the following in the fourth coronavirus response package:

School food service programs are shouldering the burden of rapidly increasing numbers of families in need without sufficient funds, additional assistance, or protective equipment in this unprecedented emergency. As your constituent, I urge you to provide greater support for school meal programs by including the following in the Senate’s stimulus package:
1.	Ensure school food service programs remain fiscally solvent during and after the pandemic. There was bipartisan support for this provision which was included in the Heroes Act and was separately introduced in the House, the FEED the Children Act (H.R. 6801).
2.	Extend the Pandemic-Electronic Benefits Transfer through the summer and next school year. This was included in the Heroes Act.
3.	Provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for food service workers and other staff. While the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act provided funds to schools that could be used to purchase PPE, hardly any school meal programs have benefited because there is currently no dedicated funding for PPE for these frontline workers and the funds have been spent elsewhere.

Please help ensure that school food service operations can survive this pandemic financially, that the food service operators who are risking their lives are provided needed protections and support, and that despite mounting uncertainties, families in need have access to nutritious food.
